I was immediately admitted to the hospital. The doctor said to me, “you are a sick lady”. Again I did not think I was sick, I thought I was just tired. They said that normally, people in my condition normally came in comatose, they did not understand how I walked in. I just raised my hands and said “thank you Jesus”. They had no beds available, so they put me in triage room, gave me fluids and pain killers. As soon as I drifted off to sleep, a nurse came in to take my vitals and to inform me that they were preparing me for surgery. Again, I have to give God thanks for keeping me alert, because I was not the one who was supposed to be prepped for surgery. Thank God I was not comatose. I might not be here today.
They ran several tests to see why I went into kidney failure. I had been in the emergency room a week prior for the food poisoning and my kidneys were fine. They said if my numbers were not back up in a couple of days, they would have to start dialysis, adding it was rare that anyone ever stopped dialysis once they started. However, after a few days, my kidneys started to work again. They had no answers for why they stopped or why they started back to work. Again I just raised my hands and said “thank you Jesus.”
The effectual fervent prayers of a righteous man availeth much. I thank God for hearing and answering prayer. When I was in no condition to pray for myself, I am glad for my family, my church family and my friends who kept me lifted up to the Lord.
But the worst was not yet over. My brother, who the doctor said was cancer free, became ill again and was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney cancer. He was again given a death sentence. This time, the doctor said the cancer was inoperable. We needed a miracle. We again started to fast and pray. We again solicited prayers from everyone we knew who knew how to reach God. And guess what, God did it again. The tumor that had grown in the place where the kidney had been had shrunk enough that the surgeons were no longer afraid to perform surgery. We were not afraid nor were we ashamed to tell them that God did it. We are grateful to the doctors too, because they were praying as well. God had performed the miracle that we asked him for.
But it was not over yet, My mom loss her husband. Shortly after that she came to visit me for a few months. While visiting, she had a stroke in her eye, thereby losing her vision in that eye. Not only that she was diagnosed with glaucoma. (Two of my sisters had been diagnosed as well.) The doctor said that normally , glaucoma ran in families. After she was stabilized and had returned home, I too was diagnosed with glaucoma. When I walked out of the doctor’s office that morning, as I was sitting in my car, I took my hands and placed them over my eyes and began to pray. I poured my heart out to the Lord. When I finished praying, I went home. I returned to the doctor two weeks later for another test. Guess what? The doctor was so startled at the results, that he took another test, saying that it was not normal for the numbers to change so drastically. Again, there was no sign of glaucoma. The Lord had done it again. He had heard and my answered prayer.
I highlighted normal and normally to demonstrate that God works beyond the realms of the normal. He does the impossible, the abnormal. He is no respector of persons. Yes he answers corporate prayer, but he answers individual prayer as well. Trust God to perform the impossible and to override the normal. He has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind.
Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you are. Whatever your trial, whatever your situation or your issue, just know that God does hear and answer prayer and he will deliver.
There is hope for a brighter day.
